Chester Deva Rotary Members together with Volunteers from ‘Friends of the Hospital’, raised funds by taking part in bag packing events at various Chester Supermarkets including Marks & Spencers , Morrisons and Sainsbury.

The Town of Sens is twinned with Chester City, as is the Rotary Club of Chester Deva twinned with the Rotary Club of Sens. Five of our members including President Alison, Susan, Ian, Gerry and Stan recently spent an enjoyable 3 days in Sens, France as the guests of Sens Rotary Club. At times members were overwhelmed by the generosity and hospitality given to members by the French Club with a busy and interesting schedule.

The first day a visit to Reims Cathedral, was followed by a trip to the Champagne cellars and the recently restored Villa of Pommery to sample the best champagne.

The next day a guided visit to the Museum of Sens and with a picnic at Fontainbleau and a tour of the historical Chateau. On the last night, members were treated to a 6-course  dinner, with all the Sens Rotary Club members and other guests the President of the Senegal Rotary Club and his wife.

Our Club President Alison gave a thank you speech (in French) for all the hospitality and kindness given to Chester Deva Rotary members especially in the homes of Sens Rotary members.

The Sens Rotary President Jean Cousin responded(in English):“Dear President Alison, dear Rotary friends, it was our pleasure to spend these few days with you. Our two clubs, ever so far from each other in distance, are close to our hearts and this type of meeting is the best way to reinforce these bonds. At the end of this year, we hope to see you in Metz. In the mean time convey our best  wishes to the members of your Club. who did not have the opportunity to come with you.”
