December 2013 ~ Rotary Fund Cardiac V-Scan Unit For Hospital

By

Chester Deva Rotary Club set a target this year to raise funds to purchase a Ultrasonic V-Scan Unit for the Cardiac department at the Countess of Chester Hospital (COCH).DSC_0006edit

The Target was surpassed, as £5800 funds were raised by various ways, such as bag packing in local Supermarkets and some innovative efforts from children at Cambridge Road Primary School, Ellesmere Port.

Professor John Somauroo Cardiac department Consultant and medical staff welcomed Chester Deva Rotarians to the Hospital to view  a V-Scan unit purchased with the funds. The photos clearly show the leap that has been made in technology and how an existing large heavy scanner (shown in the background) has been replaced by a new hand held V-Scan unit not much bigger than a mobile phone.DSC_0002edit

This additional mobile Ultrasonic V-Scan unit, gives high quality ultrasonic images to help medical staff visualize  the cardiac anatomy with ease. Hence giving better understanding of various problems that exist  with the Human Heart. Medical staff can then make early diagnosis of Heart problems with patients in Hospital, so reducing patient wait times and give faster more efficient patient care.

Our thanks go to all those who have supported this Rotary Project.
