October 2014 ~ Visit from Colombia Student.

The Rotary Club of Chester Deva welcomed medical student Chiara Norato aged 17, who is currently studying English at a College in Chester.

Chiara is also a Rotary Interact member of the Club Rotario Villa Republicana De Chiquinquira, District 4281 in Colombia. Chiquinquira her home town, population circa 8000, is 115Km North of the capital Bogata and considered to be the Religious capital of Colombia. The town’s main industry is mining of Emeralds.

She then gave a presentation to the Club members on how different native cultures and different climate ecosystems that exist throughout her country of Colombia.

From Cartagena a modern city on the Northern coast which encompasses historical walled city. Off the coast to the North is the tourist paradise of beaches and reefs in the Archipelago Isles of San Andres Y Providence.

To the south the middle of Colombia is divided by the Andres Sierra Nevada de Santa Morta mountains with snow on its upper peaks.

Further South is the Capital Bogata, where Chiara  medical training will continue at the University when she returns home.

Further South still stretches the Amazon River Basin and tropical forests, which are not highly populated.
