JUNE 2015 ~Rotary Club of Chester Deva Celebrate 24th Year Charter

Chester Deva Rotary Club members and guests assembled at the Mercure Abbots Well Hotel in Chester, to celebrate 24 years since the Club was formed in Chester. Over 60 people attended the Charter Dinner including the Lord Mayor Hugo Deynem, the Lady Mayoress of Chester, other Rotary District 1180 officials and their guests. The club members circulated among the guests in an effort to make the event a more social and relaxed evening.

The after dinner speaker John Wakefield Holder, a former professional cricketer with Hampshire County and an International Test Umpire, gave an insight into the life inside County and International cricket as a career. He did admit that although in his day wages were not as large as today, he could not have chosen a better or more enjoyable career.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

During the evening an opportunity was taken to honour two of our Club Rotarians Harold Wilson with awards for their dedicated service over many years to local community and district.
