March 2016 ~Rotarian Ken Salter receives Prestigious Award

Rotarian Ken Salter of the Rotary Club of Chester Deva recently received the prestigious ‘Enid Hester Award’ in recognition his services to the community of Ellesmere Port & Neston and in the County of Cheshire of the most exceptional nature.The award was presented by EPNAVCO (Ellesmere Port & Neston Voluntary and Community Organisations).

Ken has served as a warranted Leader in the Scout Movement for 62 years. He has in that time held high ranking positions at both District and County level and was awarded in 1997 the ‘Silver Wolf’ , Scouting’s highest award. He is currently President of Ellesmere Port & Neston Scout District and Chairman of the Cheshire Scout Faith and Belief Support Team.

Ken has a passionate interest in the work and development of young people in Ellesmere Port and has served as a Governor at Cambridge Road School in a challenging social area of the Town for over 23 years. He is currently Chairman of the Governors, a position he has held for the past 20 years, believing in pro-active leadership and good management skills.

In Rotary he has been Club President twice and is most associated with Community & Vocational projects. He presently helps in organisation of monthly Afternoon Tea parties for the local ‘Contact the Elderly’ and booking ‘Mock Interviews’  at local Schools and Colleges.

When not working directly with the Community, Ken enjoys singing with two male voice choirs, performing as a soloist at Concerts and Care Homes in Cheshire and North Wales. These Concert performances has helped monies for Rotary projects in the Chester Area.

Ken is currently Vice President of the Rotary Club of Chester Deva and looking forward to being President of the Club for a third time.
