The fund raising was on behalf of local charity B.I.R.D. ( Brain Injury Rehabilitation & Development).

BIRD works with people of all ages and with all types of brain injury irrespective of its severity. Most people treated are children. Since 1982 it has treated people with a vast array of conditions from mild forms of Dyslexia or learning difficulty, for example through severe loss of function following an accident or stroke.

BIRD gives hope to those diagnosed with conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Asperger Syndrome, Communication Disorders, Development Delay, Dyspraxia, Autism and children who are falling at school for no apparent reason.

BIRD has measurably improved the lives of 90% of the people who have come  to them for help.

For further information on this Charity please visit their website www.b-i-r-d.org.uk which features individual stories of people who have been helped.
