About Chester Deva Rotary
Our Objective
To be a modern-day family Rotary Club, working in the spirit of the ideals and guiding principles of Rotary, achieving the club objectives by serving those in need in our community and further afield.
A little about the Rotary Club of Chester Deva
We are a mixed gender club; our members span a range from mid 30s upwards and are representative of many local business, professions and jobs. Our membership at 18 allows all members to play an important role within the club.
The Rotary Club of Chester Deva has been in existance for many years and today it is a lively and successful club. In the Rotary year 2011/2012 we celebrate our 22nd Birthday. We are part of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland, District 1180, covering Chester, Ellesmere Port, the Wirral and North Wales, which in turn is part of Rotary International , a worldwide organisation.
Non Rotarians are often unsure of the activities of Rotarians as much of the charitable works we carry out in the community and internationally go unsung. The support we give in our own community takes in schools and hospices, and various local charities and support groups. We are proud that we are extensively involved with the Annual District Disabled FUN Games, started by our Club 11 years ago in Chester; and now organised jointly with a majority of Rotary Clubs in our District.
On the International front we are involved in the eradication of Polio through Rotary International’s Polio Plus Project, and are also committed this year to providing funds to this Project. Whilst we are renowned for responding swiftly to emergencies such as the Tsunami disaster, our work is in fact carried out 364 days a year.
Our main project for the 2011-2012 year is raise funds toward local charities at the NHS Countess of Chester Hospital and for “Clair House” Children’s Hospice in Chester Area.
Our members are business and professional men and women who either live or work in the Chester area. Those who have retired to Chester area are also welcome to join our club. Rotary is a non-political and non-sectarian organisation. Membership is open regardless of race, colour, creed or gender.
Female partners and aquaintances of Rotarians can if they wish become members of Chester Inner Wheel which operates as a separate Club.
