Mercure Hotel Welcomes Rotary Club of Chester Deva

The Mercure Hotel East Chester welcomes the Rotary Club of Chester Deva, whose members meet at the Hotel each Tuesday evening starting at 7-30pm. A new Rotary plaque has been erected outside the Hotel main entrance and our picture shows General manager James Lake and President Alison McGill in front of the Plaque.

April 28th~Stroke Awareness Day~ Know Your Blood Pressure

Volunteers from Rotary Clubs of Chester and Chester Deva, together with Student Nurses from Chester University, worked in the Forum Shopping Centre, Chester to give Blood Pressure tests to many public shoppers on Saturday April 28th.

A huge appreciation goes to those giving up their time to help set up, run the event and clear away all with the usual Rotary cheer and Fellowship. Thankfully, this year unlike previous years, no extreme high Blood Pressure cases were detected in Chester; perhaps this is some evidence of the success of this excellent yearly Rotary campaign on “National Stroke Awareness Day”.

April 2012~Support for Alzheimer’s Society

The Chester Deva Rotary raised £300 for the local Alzheimer’s Society, by holding a ‘Curry Evening’ earlier this year in Eccleston , Chester. Our thanks go to all who supported this fund raiser for this worthwhile Charity.

President Alison McGill presents £300 cheque to Gill Poole and Diane Riley representing the Alzheimer’s Society.

The Alzheimer’s Society with branches throughout England, Wales and Ireland is helping to increase public understanding of this disease, the different types of Dementia, and the quality of care available locally for those affected.
